DOEE Update on the Building Energy Performance Standards

October 14, 2020 @ 10:00 am - 11:00 am

The District has pledged to become carbon neutral and climate resilient by 2050. Slashing carbon pollution requires both imagination and bold action to transform our buildings. This includes improving the efficiency and health of existing buildings, repowering them with clean, renewable energy, and constructing new buildings that generate as much clean energy as they use. While we understand what the science requires us to do, there are many pathways we can take to get there.

Join us to hear more about the Department of Energy & Environment’s initial findings about what we must do to achieve this city-wide target and how current efforts to support building efficiency play a key role in that pathway. The discussion will also include how both the public and private sector can help shape the pathway forward as we think not only about creating possible policy solutions that get us through the current global health pandemic while achieving carbon reductions, but also to improve equity and resilience, particularly for the District’s communities of color and vulnerable populations.
