DCBIA Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Committee Meeting

Increasing diversity, equity, and inclusion in commercial real estate is a top priority for DCBIA and last year, DCBIA Board members established a mission for a newly formed committee to increase diversity in DC commercial real estate.

In light of the recent political and social unrest that has erupted in the USA, as members of the board of directors of DCBIA, an industry leader in the District of Columbia, we believe we would be remiss in our duties as board members, as well as members of a diverse community, if we did not implore the leadership of DCBIA to acknowledge these unsettling times and take action.

In order to remain competitive and relevant, DCBIA must speak out against the racial inequality and the pervasive gap in the lack of diverse representation and inclusion in the commercial real estate industry. But most importantly, we must and put our words into action!  In furtherance of this objective, we believe it is imperative as a leader in the commercial real estate industry to form an equity diversity and inclusion committee.  The purpose of the committee would include, but not be limited to, educating, identifying best practices, creating  a mentorship program and collaborating with other industry organizations.
