DCBIA Community Improvement Day 2026

September 19 @ 7:30 am - 5:00 pm

Join us in person on Wednesday, May 20, 2026, at the East Capitol Urban Farm at 6:00 pm for our site visit and the official kick-off meeting for DCBIA’s Annual Community Improvement Day. Be a part of another incredible effort as we assemble our design and general contracting teams to revitalize this vital community asset. This initial meeting at the East Capitol Urban Farm will allow leaders and those interested in leading a zone to experience the project site firsthand and begin the collaborative process. Following this kick-off, we will schedule a series of in-person charrettes, remote check-ins, and coordination meetings to develop a “refresh” plan that serves the residents of Ward 7 and all visitors.

This year, we are proud to return to a legacy site we originally built in 2015 as our volunteer project, partnering once again with the University of the District of Columbia (UDC) and collaborating with the DC Housing Authority (DCHA).  Share this invitation with past volunteer leaders—it is a legacy worth continuing!

Save the Date: DCBIA Community Improvement Day at East Capitol Urban Farm is scheduled for Saturday, September 19, 2026.

Our 2026 Design Co-Chairs are Harsheen Kaur, RA LEED Green Associate and Bhavi Venkitaraman AIA, WELL AP Associate of Perkins Eastman and Our General Contracting Co-Chair is Nick Kemp, Project Manager, HITT Contracting.
