DCBIA 27th Annual Community Improvement Day

September 21, 2019 @ 7:30 am - 5:00 pm

This year, DCBIA will partner again with the Department of Parks & Recreation to bring architectural and general contracting expertise to the Oxon Run Park in Congress Heights for community members to enjoy the Park for years to come!

We are encouraging DCBIA and community members to join us on Saturday, September 21 from 7:30 am to 5:00 pm to do volunteer work as part of our DCBIA Community Improvement Day! Interested in volunteering? Sign up for updates HERE.

Community service credit hours can be available for students.

Not suitable for children under 16.

All minors must be accompanied by an adult.

DCBIA’s 27th Annual Community Improvement Day promises to deliver a major community asset for DC residents and a bonding experience for DCBIA volunteers. With natural resources to rival any riparian area in DC, Oxon Run Park also features trails, basketball courts, horseshoe pits, an amphitheater, picnic shelters, pedestrian bridges, and playgrounds in Congress Heights near the THEARC.From years of deferred maintenance and a growing number of visitors, the park is in need of general repair and community-led programming. DCBIA architects are meeting with community members now to plan for the big day in the fall. Improvements will include adding gathering and socialization, building spaces to congregate and hold performances, sensory stimulation, beauty enhancements, and general landscaping.

We need your financial support to help make this happen!
