ABOUT THE CAPITOL CROSSING PROJECT:

Capitol Crossing is one of the largest developments in the Washington metro area, and also one of the most ambitious. The development creates three new city blocks supporting 2.2 million square feet of new mixed-use space in five buildings and reconnects the Union Station neighborhood to downtown DC.

The new neighborhood creates more land in the urban core of the city by decking over an active highway. Innovative design with the environment in mind is just one of the ways Capitol Crossing is making it possible for more people to work and live in the city. Capitol Crossing establishes the first eco-district in Washington, DC – superseding the highest level of the “world’s premier benchmark for high-performance green building” – by achieving “beyond LEED platinum” certification. It creates thousands of jobs, $40 million per year in new tax revenue, spurs economic growth, revitalizes the community, and enriches the city’s rich religious and cultural history.
