Phase 2 Launched!

In 2016, through a unique partnership with DC Housing Authority (DCHA), DCBIA began Phase 1 of the #buildcommunity movement.

---

Phase 2 will complete our two-year effort to transform the 60-year old community center and sports activity area at DCHA’s Benning Terrace, into an intergenerational center for all ages for 400 families in Ward 7.

---

Your donations last year allowed us to complete Phase 1:  landscaping, interior painting, minor interior repairs, new kitchen cabinets and appliances, indoor work stations, new furniture, lockers, a foosball playing area, polished floors, outdoor shelving and storage for the Benning Terrace Soldiers football team equipment, repaired concrete steps around the site, and other needed enhancements.

Since Phase 1, DCHA has invested $800,000 in stormwater management facilities work on the entire property. Partnerships that like this don’t happen often.

This year, you are invited back on Saturday, September 23, 2017 to commemorate our 25 year by completing the work at Benning Terrace, including building DCBIA’s largest permanent structure we have ever attempted!

You’re invited to volunteer with us to:

• Add more storage and organization to the indoor community center space to meet programming needs
• Create outdoor playground games
• Install new exercise equipment
• Add permanent shade structures
• Create a walking path
• Add picnic benches, art stations, and site signage
• Update the community garden
• Perform general landscaping
• And MORE!
