Lisa María Mallory serves as the District of Columbia Building Industry Association’s (DCBIA) CEO and has over thirty years of leadership experience in the private, nonprofit, and public sectors. Under her leadership, DCBIA is now at its highest level of organizational membership in its four decade history and has focused on partnering for results with other major DC and regional organizations; and awarded a full scholarship for a Master’s in Real Estate. Since 2014, DCBIA has increased its legislative and advocacy efforts testifying and providing input to dozens of bills and countless regulatory matters. Previously, Lisa was the Director of the DC Department of Employment Services where she had responsibility for overhauling one of the most troubled agencies netting millions of dollars in savings, increasing customer service, and dramatically decreasing the unemployment rate in the District of Columbia. Lisa was Senior Vice President at ICF International and prior Senior Vice President at the Fannie Mae Foundation. She served the Clinton White House as a member of the federal Senior Executive Service as Chief of Staff to Vice President Al Gore’s National Performance Review, Special Assistant at the US Department of Health and Human Services and Counselor at the US Social Security Administration and has worked for the US Senate Foreign Relations Committee and several federal Independent Counsels. Lisa began her career in the hospitality industry. She obtained a BS in Business and Technology from the University of Maryland, MBA in International Business/Marketing from George Washington University and doctorate in Public Administration and Leadership from Walden University. Lisa has completed numerous senior leadership programs at Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government and senior women leadership programs at the Kennedy School of Business and was trained by the Coaches Training Institute and is a Linkage Inc. certified Master Coach. Lisa is a member of Leadership Greater Washington’s Class of 2007 and serves as a volunteer and board member for several nonprofit organizations including the DC Chamber of Commerce, the Washington DC Economic Partnership, Ingenuity Prep Charter School and the Federal Home Loan Bank of Atlanta’s Affordable Housing Council. Lisa is a native Spanish speaker and is conversational in Italian, Portuguese and French.

Liz DeBarros Professional Bio   With 15 years of public and private-sector experience, Liz DeBarros is a fun and diplomatic executive who rolls up her sleeves to manage people, technology, budgets, brands, complex projects and crises that transform and exceed organizational goals. Currently serving as Senior Advisor to the District of Columbia Building Industry Association, Liz advances the economic and civic impact of the real estate development industry and its leaders in Washington, DC through the production of content-rich programming, organizational rebranding, networking, and good ol’ results-driven advocacy. Previously, Liz was Chief of Staff to the Department of Employment Services on its executive team for six years leading the reform of a troubled, 400-employee District agency into a more transparent, customer-centric, outcome-oriented, technology focused, and budget-conscious agency. The efforts resulted in programming that reduced unemployment from 10% to 7% through partnerships with multiple organizations, including the U.S. Department of Labor, the District of Columbia Chief Financial Officer, community organizations, the Deputy Mayor for Planning & Economic Development, the Council of the Director of Columbia and through direct relationships with the agency’s customers – District residents. At the Hotel Association of Washington, DC, Liz energized the Association’s public affairs, membership and legislative affairs programs by initiating organizational cost savings through technology and business process redesign and by building strong business relationships with government to improve outcomes for over 90 District of Columbia member hotels and their general managers. Liz began her career as a professional counselor increasing college retention and graduation rates of Federal TRIO Program students and served as an AmeriCorps volunteer. Liz earned a Master of Arts degree from Temple University and a Bachelor of Arts degree from Rhode Island College. She resides in the Kingman Park neighborhood in Washington, DC.

Devin Zitelman

Director of Programs

Devin Zitelman joined DCBIA in 2014 as the Marketing & Events Coordinator. He is responsible for developing and executing programs, events and marketing for DCBIA, including the Community Services Corporation. Devin regularly implements new and exciting strategies to engage and grow opportunities for the organization while creating value for members. He coordinates sponsorship, advertising, fundraising and marketing for DCBIA. In addition, Devin conducts data entry and ROI analyses in order to streamline processes and ensure consistent business practices. Devin has experience dealing with large budgets, project management, community engagement, public-private partnerships, branding, and business development. He attended the University of Colorado at Boulder, is a native of Rockville, MD and currently resides in the District.

Membership Coordinator

Sherrita Clark has extensive experience in non-profit associations and member-client relationships. She has served as Membership Coordinator for the National Kidney Foundation and National Association of Elementary School Principals, among others. At DCBIA, Sherrita is responsible for managing all Membership accounts, Sponsorships, Event Registration and other office duties while ensuring exemplary customer service to the community and Association’s membership.

Administrative Assistant

Doreen Reid is an accomplished and dedicated Senior Administrative Coordinator who joined DCBIA as Administrative Assistant in 2016. She brings extensive experience in the coordination and support of executives’ daily operational and administrative needs. Her proven track record is demonstrated through various positions that provide highly-efficient and detailed administrative support to executive management teams and organizational Boards including the Washington Adventist Hospital Foundation, Partnership for Jewish Life & Learning and Hillel of Greater Washington. Doreen is a leader with an entrepreneurial spirit also serving as a Mary Kay Independent Beauty Consultant.
